About the Author        

A memoir of J. R. Helton's experiences working on film sets, Below The Line was published in a second edition by Last Gasp Books in July of 2000 with a new cover painted by the artist R. Crumb.

In 2001, his memoir on animal rescue in Texas, Man and Beast, was published by Abiqua Press. Read the review in Texas Books In Review.

J. R. Helton lives in San Antonio, Texas with his wife Carisa, their dogs Sadie and P, and Fatty, the cat.  He is currently teaching writing at The University of Texas at San Antonio and Trinity University.
